@Steve Mattos Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam IS "clearly" a dangerous Islamic apologist for terror but he categorically HASN'T apologised to Salman Rushdie for publicly advocating the writer's murder. He says he has... which makes him a liar, a hypocrite ('Peace Train'?) and a total fraud. Quoting his 'apology'.. Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam: _"I never called for the death of Salman Rushdie"_ THE REALITY... Being questioned by Geoffrey Robertson... Robertson: _"You don't think that this man deserves to die?"_ Stevens: _"Who, Salman Rushdie?"_ Robertson: _"Yes"._ Stevens: *_"Yes, yes."_* Robertson: _"And do you have a duty to be his executioner?"_ Stevens: _"Uh, no, not necessarily, unless we were in an Islamic state and I was ordered by a judge or by the authority to carry out such an act – perhaps, _*_yes."_* Robertson on the subject of a protest where an effigy of the author is to be burned... Robertson: _"Would you be part of that protest, Yusuf Islam, would you go to a demonstration where you knew that an effigy was going to be burned?"_ Stevens: _"I would have hoped that it'd be the real thing."_ Quoting his 'apology'... Cat Stevens/Yusuf Isalm: _"I never backed the Fatwa issued by the Ayatollah Khomeini – and still don’t."_ THE REALITY... Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam: _"If Rushdie turned up at my doorstep looking for help, I might ring somebody who might do more damage to him than he would like. I'd try to phone the Ayatollah Khomeini and tell him exactly where this man is."_ So... as well as lying in this 'apology', he doesn't utter a word about the attacked publishers and translators - one of whom, translator Hitoshi Igarashi, was stabbed to death - or express any sympathy for the catastrophic effect the fatwa had on Rushdie's life. Stevens actually *blames Rushdie* for the whole affair.... Stevens: _"The book itself destroyed the harmony between peoples and created an unnecessary international crisis."_ An apology, this was *not.* Why is it so difficult for the writer of 'Peace Train' to publicly apologise to Salman Rushdie? Why is it so difficult for the writer of 'Peace Train' to categorically condemn ALL death sentences _anywhere_ placed upon those who've done nothing but exercise their most basic human right of free speech? The answer is obvious. Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam is a hypocrite and a fraud propagating the worst kind of religious fundamentalism imaginable.
